About the Role
The Junior Accountant role in our Cape Town City Centre office offers an exciting opportunity to develop skills and knowledge within a dynamic finance environment. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial processes and supporting business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture and process supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy against purchase orders
- Reconcile creditor and supplier accounts to statement
- Ensure timely payments and adherence to AP ageing targets
- Allocate invoices to correct general ledger accounts and process journals where required
- Process and reconcile petty cash in line with company policy
- Issue purchase orders and support procurement administration
- Perform daily Accounts Receivable functions, including emailing invoices and credit notes
- Distribute customer statements in line with internal timelines
- Assist with month-end project closures and revenue-related processes
- Support debtor activities, including accrued income and WIP reporting
- Analyse expense accounts to understand cost drivers and variances
- Build and maintain assigned budget accounts
- Assist with cash flow and revenue forecasting
- Prepare reports and schedules to support management decision-making
- Ensure compliance with internal control procedures and corporate governance standards
- Provide ad hoc financial support to the Finance Manager and senior finance team
Requirements
- Exposure to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
- Solid foundation in accounting principles and reconciliations
- Eagerness to learn and grow within a commercial finance environment
Qualifications
Completed SAIPA articles or relevant accounting degree with approximately 3 years experience
