About the Role
As Mama Shelter Residences & Hotel I Cape Town’s Front Office Manager, you will be the face, energy, and leader behind every first impression. You will set the tone for the entire guest experience, leading from the front, driving performance, and creating a space where your team shines and guests feel instantly at home.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive smooth daily operations, structure, and consistency across all shifts
- Define and elevate the guest journey, ensuring every interaction feels personal, seamless, and full of Mama magic
- Lead, coach, and develop your team into confident, high-performing Mama stars
- Monitor KPIs, guest feedback, and operational results, turning insights into action that elevates performance
- Work hand-in-hand with all departments to deliver one connected, effortless guest experience across the hotel
- Own all Front Office systems (OPERA & more), ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and smart use of guest data
- Set and maintain high standards, from billing accuracy to room allocation and service delivery
- Drive revenue through smart upselling, inventory management, and strong financial control
- Ensure all front-of-house areas are always looking fresh, functional, and full of Mama personality
- Handle escalations with confidence and calm, making decisions, owning them, and turning challenges into wins
- Continuously improve systems, processes, and service to keep Mama evolving
Requirements
- Solid experience leading a Front Office team in hospitality
- Confidence with systems like OPERA and understanding of Front Office operations inside out
- Natural leadership skills that inspire, motivate, and develop people
- Commercial awareness and understanding of how operations impact the bottom line
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
Qualifications
- Hospitality or Tourism qualification (desired)
- Pre-opening or lifestyle brand experience (desirable)
