A leading technology and engineering solutions company is looking for an experienced Automotive Industrial Engineer with strong experience in product development, R&D, systems integration, process optimisation, manufacturing, and hardware-software integration to join their team in Durban. This hands-on, management-level role operates at the intersection of engineering, software development, and operations, ensuring products are efficiently designed, tested, integrated, and deployed into production and field environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving innovation, quality, process improvement, and operational scalability. Responsibilities: Conduct research, evaluation, and assessment of new product components for existing and future product lines. Assess technical feasibility, compatibility, and performance of products and systems. Define testing, evaluation, and product approval strategies. Collaborate with software development teams to integrate hardware and system components. Perform testing, fault finding, troubleshooting, and system validation. Oversee the full product integration lifecycle from concept through deployment. Develop and standardise installation, fitment, testing, validation, and compliance procedures. Translate engineering outputs into structured and repeatable operational processes. Support the transition of products from R&D into production environments. Design and implement production workflows, quality control systems, and testing procedures. Establish field evaluation frameworks and continuous improvement processes. Conduct system reviews and identify operational inefficiencies and risks. Develop corrective actions and compliance frameworks aligned with quality and safety standards. Work closely with operations teams to identify real-world challenges and implement practical solutions. Manage project timelines, workload allocation, and task prioritisation. Provide regular reporting and feedback to senior management. Requirements: Degree or Diploma in Industrial Engineering or a related field. 510 years’ experience in product development and R&D. Experience in manufacturing or assembly environments. Experience with systems integration and process optimisation. Knowledge of low-voltage systems. Knowledge of microcontrollers and embedded systems. Experience with hardware-software integration. Experience with process design and optimisation. Experience with quality control systems and production workflows. Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent process improvement skills. Ability to work across engineering, software, and operations teams. High attention to detail. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
