Job Description
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
- Grade 10/11
- Any Technical Qualification
- General labour, cleaning and good housekeeping
- Company’s Policies & Procedures, including in-house induction & training
- Valid Unendorsed Code 08 Drivers License for Light Motor Vehicle
- At least 1 years’ related experience
- Satisfactory oral and written communication skills in English
- Interpersonal relationship skills
- Ability to work in a team
- Physically fit to move heavy objects
- Use of mechanical equipment, i.e. brush cutter, chainsaw, etc.
- The daily physical demands are those required to work on the roads.
- If possible and allowed, it may be required of the person to drive a vehicle.
- Provide support on incidents/accidents on the route.
- The road spans over an area of ± 380km.
- The candidate will be required to work in all-weather conditions.
- Overtime duties might be required from time-to-time.
- The work environment characteristics are those encountered on a typical toll road operation – largely site work and in the store.
- The work shall be located throughout the Bakwena Toll Road and therefore the General Worker will be required to travel and on occasion live outside of Pretoria for specific times or periods.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing traffic accommodation in order to safeguard
motorists and to ensure the safety of the work team on the
site during any road works. - Removal and installation of damaged road studs.
- Repairs on existing road surface (i.e. potholes, etc.).
- Grass cutting, mowing and fence clearance.
- Clearing of sites, removal of debris and other objects on the road surface and in the road reserve.
- Cutting of trees.
- Fixing of road signs.
- Digging of holes for road furniture posts.
- Washing and cleaning of Company vehicles and equipment.
- Moving of stock and equipment in the store, general cleaning and housekeeping
- Practising Safe Working Procedures and compliance with
the OHS Act.
