Location: Alberton, Gauteng

About the Role
A well-established plastics packaging manufacturer based in Alberton, Gauteng is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee and optimise all plant operations. This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, manage and oversee all plant operations, ensuring best practice across all levels
  • Optimise Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and minimise waste while maximising people performance
  • Ensure delivery of consistent quality products to specification
  • Formulate strategic and operational objectives
  • Drive Lean continuous improvement in production (Lean and Six Sigma)
  • Examine production plans and ensure alignment with sales plans
  • Improve operational management systems, processes and best practice methods
  • Develop operational systems and procedures to ensure productivity and continuous growth
  • Monitor and report on OEE, performance and costs
  • Achieve operations labour budget expectations
  • Drive compliance with HSHE and BRC standards
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing production team

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in Operations Management or related field
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years proven experience as an Operations or Plant Manager in a plastics manufacturing environment
  • Production extrusion skills and experience – essential
  • Sound technical knowledge of plastics manufacturing
  • Extensive knowledge of organisational effectiveness and operations management
  • Strong leadership and people management ability
  • Lean and Six Sigma knowledge
  • HSHE and BRC compliance experience
  • Performance driven with strong attention to detail
  • Customer and quality focused
