Purpose of the Role
The Pursuit Specialist is responsible for driving the end-to-end pursuit strategy, combining proactive opportunity origination with high impact proposal development to secure new business and strengthen client relationships across Motsoeneng Bill.

The role plays a critical strategic function in ensuring that MB is:

  • Positioned ahead of the market through proactive pursuits.
  • Engaged early in the client buying cycle.
  • Delivering differentiated, insight-led proposals aligned to its integrated service offering.

Given the highly collaborative and deadline-driven nature of pursuits, this role is office-based, enabling real-time coordination, rapid iteration of proposals and close engagement with leadership and technical teams.

Working closely with the Managing Director (Advisory), the Pursuit Specialist leads the execution of win strategies, value propositions and client-centric messaging, ensuring all pursuits reflect MB’s capabilities across Forensics and Advisory.

Key Responsibilities
Proactive Pursuits and Strategic Pipeline Development (Core Pillar)

Build and manage a forward-looking pursuit pipeline including:

  • Pre-tender opportunities (Annual Procurement Plans and budget cycles).
  • Panel and framework opportunities.
  • Direct awards and RFQs.
  • Strategic account targets.
  • Conduct client and market intelligence, including:
  • Analysis of audit outcomes, regulatory findings and sector risks.
  • Identification of procurement trends and spend patterns.

Monitoring of public sector plans (PFMA/MFMA environments) and developing Account Intelligence Packs for priority clients, including:

  • Organisational structures and decision-makers.
  • Key risks, governance gaps and audit findings.
  • Stakeholder and relationship mapping.
  • Targeted service opportunities.

Support early-stage client positioning, including:

  • Preparing executive briefing notes.
  • Enabling strategic meetings and engagements.
  • Aligning pursuits with MB’s sector GTM strategy.

Pursuit Strategy and Management

Lead the planning and execution of large, complex and strategic pursuits across MB divisions
 
Develop and drive win strategies, including:

  • Messaging frameworks.
  • Differentiation strategies.
  • Competitive positioning.

Proposal and Collateral Development

Manage the end-to-end proposal lifecycle from qualification to submission.

Draft and refine key deliverables, including:

  • Cover letters.
  • Executive summaries.

Ensure all proposals are:

  • Client centric and insight driven.
  • Aligned to MB’s methodologies and frameworks.
  • Reflective of highest quality standards.

Collaborate with the Marketing to enhance:

  • Visual storytelling.
  • Brand consistency.
  • Presentation Quality.

Lead oral presentation , including:

  • Script development.
  • Rehearsals and coaching.
  • Executive level delivery readiness.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Leadership

Partner with:

  • Executives and Partners.
  • Subject Matter Experts.
  • Bids Coordinators and BD team

Act as the central strategic coordinator across pursuits.

Provide coaching and mentoring to:

  • Tender Coordinators.
  • Proposal writers and
  • BD support teams.

Drive alignment across MB Law, Forensics and Advisory.
 
Business Intelligence and Continuous Improvement

Track and analyse:

  • Win/Loss outcomes.
  • Client Feedback.
  • Competitor insights.

Maintain and enhance:

  • Pursuit methodologies.
  • Templates and toolkits.
  • Knowledge repositories.

 
Qualifications and Experience
National Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Business / Commerce / Communications / Journalism, Communications, Marketing or a related field.

3- 5 years’ experience in Pursuits / Bid Management / Proposal Development in a professional services or consulting environment (legal, audit, advisory or engineering).

Demonstrated experience in:

  • Managing complex high value bids.
  • Public Sector procurement (PFMA/MFMA).
  • Strategic account support or pipeline development.

Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
 
Exposure to design tools (Canva, Adobe) advantageous.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes for Success Strategic and Commercial

  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of client needs.
  • Ability to identify and shape opportunities proactively.
  • Strategic thinking with strong analytical capability.

 
Execution and Delivery

  • Strong project management and coordination skills.
  • High attention to detail and quality orientation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
