Junior Financial Manager
Area: Grabouw, Western Cape
Salary: +-R40K – R50K CTC p.m. (depending on experience)
Employment Type: Permanent in-office role with a hybrid option.

Our client in the Grabouw/ Elgin area is a Kiwi Farm, looking for a dynamic Junior Financial Manager to join their team.
Purpose:
Ensure the financial health and compliance of business division. This role encompasses meticulous financial planning, accurate reporting, and effective leadership to contribute to the overall success and growth of the company. By overseeing budgeting, audits, and day-to-day financial operations, this role plays a crucial part in shaping and executing the business financial strategy.
Key Accountability areas
1- Annual Budget Preparation
- Assist in gathering financial data from various departments.
- Support the consolidation of departmental budgets into the overall company budget.
2- Accounting standards and financial governance
- Compile and organise supporting documentation for audit
- Liaise with auditors to provide requested information and resolve queries.
- Assist in preparing lead schedules and reconciliations for key accounts.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and company accounting policies.
- Track audit progress and escalate delays or issues.
3- Month-end Processes and internal control
- Prepare and post journal entries (e.g. accruals, prepayments, depreciation).
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Ensure timely closing of financial periods in the accounting system.
- Collaborate with operational teams to validate financial data.
- Ensure completion by the 15th of each month.
- Oversee journals, balance sheet reconciliations, asset register, etc.
- Verify accuracy and completeness of financial records.
4- Compliance with SARS regulatory requirements
- Prepare VAT reconciliations and ensure accurate submission to SARS.
- Monthly review and submission of EMP201 and Bi-Annual EMP501
- Assist with provisional and annual income tax calculations and timely submission
- Maintain documentation for tax audits and compliance checks.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation relevant to the agricultural/export sector.
- Liaise with external tax consultants where necessary.
5- Financial Planning, Analysis, and Reporting
- Proactively manage Suppliers and Customer accounts.
- Collaborate with treasury for weekly cashflow management.
- Oversee asset management for buildings, infrastructure, equipment, and vehicles.
- Support the development of financial forecasts and cash flow projections.
- Analyse cost structures and profitability by product, farm, or region.
6- People Management
- Line management of Bookkeepers & financial assistants.
- Delegate selected financial & administration functions to staff.
- Provide operational and financial support to all production team members, fostering peer communication.
- Provide training and mentorship on financial systems and procedures.
- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Assist in performance reviews and development plans for team members.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration with other departments.
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
- 3-5 years post-article experience.
- Professional qualification and completed articles (CIMA/PA) will be beneficial.
- Proven experience in financial management.
