Intermediate Mechanical Draftsman The draughtsman is responsible for producing accurate and detailed technical drawings, models, and documentation for mechanical components and systems. Working closely with engineers and senior draughtsman, this role ensures designs are compliant with project specifications, industry standards and manufacturing requirements. Minimum Requirements: 5 – 10 years experience in mechanical drafting (sheet metal and frame generator beneficial) Proficiency in CAD software (Inventor) – mandatory Good understanding of mechanical engineering principles and manufacturing processes. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Knowledge of relevant standards (e.g., ISO, SANS). Well developed computer skills in relevant design & drafting packages and software Strong attention to detail & accuracy Quick and accurate with methodical approach to allocated work areas Good written & verbal communication Proactive attitude No criminal record or ITC listings Own reliable transport with a CODE 08 license Fluent in English & Afrikaans (read, speak & write) High level of initiative, resilience and patience in a sometimes-challenging environment Duties will include: Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models of mechanical components and assemblies. Interpret engineering designs, specifications, and calculations into technical drawings. Revise and update existing drawings based on engineering changes. Ensure all drawings comply with relevant standards, codes, and company procedures. Prepare bill of materials (BOMs) and supporting documentation. Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and workshop teams to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability. Conduct basic design checks and identify potential design issues. Maintain drawing registers and document control systems. Assist in site measurements and data collection where required. Support junior draughtsman and contribute to continuous improvement of drafting processes.
