Johannesburg: Production Manager

About the Role

The Production Manager is a key leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence across the production line, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The successful candidate will lead and develop high-performing teams, drive process improvements, and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Development: Lead and manage the line operations team to achieve targets in safety, quality, productivity, sanitation, cost, and engagement.
  • Coach and Develop Shift Supervisors and Equipment Owners through regular feedback, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Conduct performance reviews and implement development plans to strengthen team capability.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, compliance, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Operational & System Ownership: Own and drive the effectiveness of Daily Line Meetings (DLMs) and Weekly Line Reviews.
  • Ensure KPI tracking, action follow-up, and disciplined meeting execution.
  • Ensure the development, implementation, and compliance of CILs and centrelines.
  • Lead Autonomous Maintenance (AM) implementation and drive progression through TPM step methodologies.
  • Ensure sanitation standards, MSS compliance, and corrective action closure.
  • Conduct regular system health checks and ensure operational standards are sustained.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, sanitation standards, and local manufacturing regulations.
  • Experience with production scheduling, throughput optimization, run rates, and changeovers.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Food Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee all aspects of production in their Johannesburg region. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety in the production process while driving continuous improvement to meet organizational goals.
