About the Role

The Regional Finance Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for the overall financial and administration operations of multiple stores in the East Rand region. This position requires a hands-on manager with operational acumen, who understands all elements of finance management and can effectively manage teams to achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and Organise resources:
  • Coordinate & facilitate team conflict resolution/relationship
  • Coach learners e. store administrators, assistant RFM, Junior Store Administrators, Managers, Assistant Managers, roving admins
  • Coordinate with Store Manager: staff leave; off days and training days
  • Administer discipline and performance management of staff
  • Supervises activities of administrators and Junior Store Administrators by doing evaluations on admin duties
  • Responsible for training and development of Roving/Administrators, Junior Administrators and Assistant RFM
  • Responsible to ensure a multiskilled Administration function in region, including succession planning
  • Drive change management amongst own team through innovation and technology
  • General HR duties
  • Audit policies/procedures:
  • Audit existing policies and procedures
  • Revise and improve policies in conjunction with stakeholders
  • Financial Reporting:
  • Oversee the full Financial Reporting functions at stores in the region
  • Prepare budget file on excel with input from Store Managers, Regional Managers and Store Administrators
  • Track all expenses: Controllable and non-controllable expenses through consistent and accurate monitoring and review of income statements
  • Responsible for integrity of sustainability reporting information as required
  • Monthly Financial reviews held with the Store Managers, Regional Manager, Store Administrators
  • Prepare and Interpret Financial Reports (Prepare Income Statements & Respond to Balance sheet queries)
  • Provide feedback to Stores and Regional Managers on financial reports
  • Administration:
  • Ensure all financial information is filed and readily available
  • Check all payroll information is accurately and timeously submitted and initiates corrections
  • Responsible for Asset Management in the region, including registers, budget, approvals and depreciation
  • Assist with customer related queries (payments, bank queries)
  • Ensure resolution of internal queries (debtor/creditor/general ledger/cashbook/HR/IT)
  • Reconciling of travel claims
  • Submit and follow up on Insurance claims, allocating excesses and follow up on third party recovery claims
  • Oversee the administrator trainee program
  • Internal Audit:
  • Preparation and overall responsibility for year-end audit process and reporting
  • General Finance:
  • Cashbook, debtors, creditors, general ledger
  • Annual stocktake:
  • Plays important role in stock takes through assisting the regions co-ordination and attending a stores stock take

Requirements

  • BCom degree or similar
  • 3 – 5 years of retail administration and finance admin management in a multi site environment
  • Advanced Excel
  • Transferrable software skills e.g. SAGE X3
  • In depth daily financial acumen including VAT
  • Labour legislation knowledge
  • Experience investigating financial irregularities and conducting disciplinary procedures.
