About the Role
Rory Mackie & Associates, a boutique investment manager based in Johannesburg, is seeking a Senior Equity Analyst to join their team. As part of an active asset management environment, the successful candidate will conduct fundamental equity research and generate investment ideas to support portfolio managers. With R40bn of predominantly institutional client money under management, our client is committed to delivering superior returns through rigorous bottom-up valuation methodology.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth fundamental research on listed equities
- Build and maintain advanced financial models and valuations
- Generate differentiated investment ideas and actionable recommendations
- Monitor portfolio holdings and update investment theses
- Analyse company results, industry trends, and relevant macro developments
- Engage with company management, sell-side analysts, and industry participants
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- CFA Level III completed
- 5 – 7 years experience in equity research
- Strong idea generation capability with a clear investment mindset
- Advanced financial modelling and valuation skills
- Solid understanding of financial statements and accounting
- Ability to clearly articulate and defend an investment view
