Job Description
Core Criteria:
- Formal culinary qualification with a pastry focus advantageous
- 2–3 years’ experience in a similar pastry role
- Willingness and ability to start at 04h00 and work flexible hours
- Valid driver’s licence essential
- Previous experience in a lodge or safari hospitality environment advantageous
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and perform well under pressure
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Competent in English, both written and spoken
- Strong understanding of hygiene, food safety, and sanitation standards
Core Responsibilities:
- Prepare fresh pastries, breads, and desserts daily for all three camps to a consistently high standard
- Ensure timely production and delivery of all baked goods each morning
- Assist the Executive and Head Chef with daily kitchen operations across all sections
- Contribute to menu creation and the development of new pastry concepts
- Maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards throughout all areas of food preparation
- Support stock control processes and actively work to minimise waste
- Ensure requisitions and issue sheets are accurately completed
- Collaborate with the wider kitchen team to ensure seamless service across all camps
Remuneration & Benefits:
- Paid Sundays and public holidays
- Provident fund contribution of 5%
- Live-in position with shared accommodation provided
- 7 days off per month plus 21 consecutive annual leave days
