Position Available: Civil and Construction Estimator/ Quantity Surveyor Start Date: This position is available immediately. Job Overview: The Civil & Construction Estimator / Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing project budgets, and ensuring financial efficiency across civil and construction projects. This role involves analysing drawings and specifications, preparing tenders, monitoring project costs, and managing contractual and commercial aspects from project inception through to completion. The position plays a key role in supporting profitability by identifying cost-saving opportunities, minimizing financial risk, and ensuring that all work is completed within budget while maintaining quality and compliance with industry standards. Close collaboration with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and clients is essential to ensure successful project delivery. Key Responsibilities: Prepare accurate cost estimates and detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs) from drawings and specifications Analyse tender documents, identify risks, and compile competitive bids and proposals Source and negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors Monitor project costs, track variations, and manage budgets throughout the project lifecycle Prepare and submit progress claims, valuations, and final accounts Evaluate and process subcontractor payments and invoices Manage contractual and commercial aspects in line with project agreements Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve financial efficiency Conduct site visits to assess progress, measure work completed, and verify claims Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure alignment on scope and costs Maintain accurate project cost records and reporting Measurements and Procurement on materials. Skills Required: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Detail-oriented and methodical approach. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong financial and budgeting expertise. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Highly organized and disciplined with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Minimum Requirements (Non-Negotiable): A SACQSP-accredited Quantity Surveyor degree or national diploma. A minimum of 5 years of proven track record as a Quantity Surveyor. Valid drivers license with no endorsements. Stable work history with contactable references. Working knowledge of COLTO, NEC, FIDIC, GCC, and JBCC suite of contracts. South African citizenship. IT and Computer Literacy: Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including MS Project (non-negotiable). Knowledge of Candy / BuildSmart (beneficial). Familiarity with Pastel, AutoCAD, and Revit (beneficial). Language Proficiency: Fluent in English. Proficiency in Afrikaans is an advantage. Remuneration Package: Salary is negotiable and will be commensurate with your skills, qualifications, and experience.
