About the Role

The Fleet Controller is a critical role that ensures the smooth operation of our fleet, managing all aspects of vehicle maintenance, repairs, and administration. This position requires strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate all preventative maintenance, servicing, repairs, and breakdown assistance for the fleet.
  • Monitor vehicle condition and ensure all maintenance schedules are adhered to.
  • Coordinate vehicle servicing with approved service providers and operational departments.
  • Ensure all vehicles remain operational and available for business requirements.
  • Monitor vehicle uptime and implement measures to reduce downtime.
  • Inspect and sign off completed repairs to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Manage repair processes from initiation through completion and return to service.
  • Maintain accurate fleet maintenance records and documentation.
  • Record and monitor vehicle mileage, equipment operating hours, and maintenance histories.
  • Manage and authorize purchase requests and purchase orders relating to vehicle maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure all fleet documentation is accurately filed and readily accessible.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Fleet Management, Logistics, Transport Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Business Administration will be advantageous.
  • Valid Code EC (Code 14) Drivers License with Public Driving Permit (PDP).
  • Ability to successfully complete medical, driver screening, and verification assessments.

About the Role

The Fleet Controller is a critical role that oversees all aspects of company-owned as well as SR FML Fleet. This position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to coordinate mechanical and equipment repairs, services, and maintenance for the fleet.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fleet Controlling: Maintenance and repair of vehicles in the fleet.
  • Daily Vehicle Check Sheets: Receipting and reporting on new damages and defects to the Manager.
  • Vehicle Uptime Reporting: Routine maintenance needs and daily vehicle check sheets.
  • Mileage Recording: Receiving and recording daily vehicle mileages from daily vehicle check sheets.
  • Fridge Hours Recording: Receiving and recording daily fridge hours from daily vehicle check sheets.
  • Service Schedule Reports: Weekly vehicle and fridge and tail lift service schedule report.
  • Vehicle Handovers: Managing all vehicle hand overs, including transfer and collection of vehicles between DCs or to/from service providers.
  • Quality Standards: Maintaining vehicle quality standards in accordance with Road Traffic Regulations and company requirements.
  • Certification: Fridge calibration certification, tail lift load certification, and truck wash bay cleaning schedule.
  • Accident and Breakdown Repairs: Inspecting and signing off all accident and breakdown repairs for quality assurance.
  • Licensing and Registrations: Obtaining and maintaining truck licensing and registrations.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Good technical knowledge with training and/or experience in MAN Trucks, Grenco / Carrier Refrigeration Systems, Mixtelematics Systems, and Tyre Management
  • Complete and up-to-date knowledge of road traffic regulations
  • Valid Code 14 EC Driving License and PrDP
