About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accountant to join our team in Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with all accounting, finance, and secretarial functions, as well as managing various financial aspects of our associated entities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with all accounting, finance, and secretarial functions
- Manage the Accounts Payable function for all associated entities, including capturing and flow of invoices, reconciliation, and payment of suppliers
- Prepare monthly management accounts and Board packs
- Assist with financial planning, modelling, budgeting, and forecasting
- Prepare annual and monthly tax computations and pay all company taxes, including VAT, Income Tax, Dividends Tax, Carbon Tax, and Royalty Tax
- Maintain the fixed assets and property registers for all associated entities
- Act as a bank signatory for associated entities
- Prepare annual insurance declarations and manage ongoing insurance claims
- Manage lease agreements
- Monitor petty cash balances and review
- Perform general ledger reconciliations, including reconciliation of the fixed assets register and intercompany accounts
Requirements
- Postgraduate qualification in Finance
- Minimum 2 years post-article experience in an accounting environment (post-article experience is beneficial)
- Demonstrates understanding of all facets of business operations and interactions, a sound working knowledge of financial management, numeracy, and attention to detail
- Strong understanding of SA income tax, VAT, and other tax legislations
- High-level computer literacy (including MS Office/Excel)
- Working experience in a financial environment; knowledge of online computer applications (JDE)
