About the Role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies are seeking a reputable Locum Pharmacist for Johannesburg South. As a Locum Pharmacist, you will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical care to patients and ensuring that their medicine-related needs are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Provision of pharmaceutical care by taking responsibility for patients’ medicine-related needs and being accountable for meeting those needs.
- Evaluation of patients’ medicine-related needs by determining the indication, safety, and effectiveness of therapy.
- Dispensing of any medicine or scheduled substance on the prescription of a person authorized to prescribe medicine.
- Signing off and checking of all prescriptions prepared by an assistant or intern and accepting accountability for correctness thereof as per GPP 2.7.1.2.1.f.
- Furnishing of information and advice to any person with regard to the use of medicine.
- Determining patient compliance with therapy and follow-up to ensure that patients’ medicine-related needs are being met.
- Provision of pharmacist-initiated therapy.
- Compounding, manipulation, preparation, or packaging of any medicine or scheduled substance, or supervision thereof.
- Manufacturing of any medicine or scheduled substance, or supervision thereof.
- Purchasing, acquiring, importing, keeping, possessing, using, releasing, storage, packaging, re-packaging, supplying, or selling of any medicine or scheduled substance, or supervision thereof.
- Application for the registration of a medicine in accordance with the Medicines Act and Pharmacy Act.
- Acts specially pertaining to the profession of a pharmacist as prescribed above.
- Formulation of any medicine for the purposes of registration as a medicine.
- Distribution of any medicine or scheduled substance.
- Repackaging of medicines.
- Initiation and conducting of pharmaceutical research and development.
- Promotion of public health.
Requirements
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in Pharmaceutical.
- Minimum 2-3 years retail pharmacy experience (student/intern).
- Computer literate MS Office.
- Advantageous: Relevant retail/FMCG experience, Third additional language SAP experience, E-scripting experience, Registered tutor, Unisolv experience.
Qualifications
- Formal education/certifications as required by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
