About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Durban, responsible for ensuring the mechanical integrity of our plant and compliance with South African laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy engineering and manufacturing industries, with experience in managing projects, driving safety and training, and implementing process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage projects and plant improvements
- Drive safety and training of mechanical team
- Ensure plant availability as per requirements
- Drive process improvement to benefit the business
- Ensure compliance to OHS Act and take GMR 2.7(a) appointment (possibly GMR 2.1 depending on experience)
- Compliance of health, safety, environmental rules and regulations and ensure housekeeping
- Implement capital and operational projects
- Integrate relevant Engineering disciplines
- Training and mentoring of Technicians, candidates and process teams
- Application of good maintenance principles (e.g., implementation of SOPs/SEPs)
- Failure and process analyses and reporting
- Leading the planning and scheduling of the maintenance
Requirements
- Degree – B.Eng / B.Sc Mechanical Engineering (NQF7/8/9/10)
Qualifications
- ECSA Professional registration: Pr.Eng
- SAIMech membership
- Proficient in SAP, MS Office, MS Projects CMMS System
