About the Role
We are seeking a Clinical Risk & Quality Improvement Lead to serve as the primary clinical interface between hospital management, clinicians, medical experts and technical advisory teams in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for building trust at executive and provincial levels and communicating programme insights clearly and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary clinical interface between hospital management, clinicians, medical experts and technical advisory teams.

- Oversee clinical audits, case reviews, expert opinions and root cause analyses.
- Ensure consistent, high-quality clinical audit outputs and identify cross-facility patterns.
- Lead hospital walkthroughs, assess governance structures, documentation practices and high-risk clinical areas (maternity, emergency, theatre, ICU).
- Support facilities in identifying priority gaps and implementing practical, resource-appropriate improvements.
- Convert medico-legal case intelligence into targeted quality improvement recommendations.
- Collaborate with analytics teams on coding frameworks, trend analysis and risk profiling.
- Produce recommendations for protocols, training, resourcing and patient safety interventions.
- Provide clinical input into reports, insight papers and provincial governance discussions.
- Support policy strengthening and knowledge-sharing across facilities.
Requirements
- MBChB or equivalent.
- Current HPCSA registration (in good standing).
- Significant post-qualification clinical experience in South African public hospitals.
- Exposure to clinical governance, M&M reviews, audits and quality improvement processes.
- Experience in high-risk medico-legal areas: Obstetrics & Maternity, Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, Paediatrics, Family Medicine (with hospital exposure).
