Johannesburg: Software Developer & Cyber Security Specialist [AI, Hybrid]

Job Description

You will design and deliver AI-enabled software solutions that drive business productivity, while taking ownership of protecting our systems, users, and data from evolving cyber threats. This is not a paper-based role we need someone who builds, secures, and delivers real solutions. About the Environment You will operate in a Microsoft-centric, Azure-hosted environment, supporting: A national branch network Mobile field-service teams Customer-facing platforms ERP and CRM systems Our threat landscape includes phishing, ransomware, and supply-chain risk and we need someone who can stay ahead of it. What Youll Do Software Development & AI Build and deploy applications, integrations, APIs, and AI-driven solutions Translate business needs into scalable technical solutions Implement CI/CD pipelines and maintain clean, secure code Apply secure-by-design and privacy-first principles Cyber Security Own and manage the organisations cyber security posture Operate security tools (EDR/XDR, SIEM, MFA, DLP, etc.) Lead incident response, remediation, and reporting Run vulnerability management and patching cycles Drive phishing simulations and security awareness programmes Cloud & Infrastructure (Azure) Secure and manage Azure and Microsoft 365 environments Enforce identity, access, and conditional access policies Maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes Governance & Compliance Ensure POPIA and data protection compliance Maintain security policies and standards Conduct risk and vendor assessments Support audits and close findings User Enablement Provide escalation support for complex incidents Deliver security training and awareness campaigns Create clear documentation and guides What Success Looks Like Delivery of high-quality, business-impacting software and AI solutions Strong cyber security posture with reduced risk exposure Secure, stable, and well-managed Azure environment High user awareness and adoption of security practices What Were Looking For Experience 5 years in software development (production environments) 3 years in hands-on cyber security operations Proven experience building AI-enabled solutions Experience in Azure and Microsoft environments Technical Skills C#, .NET, Python, or Node.js Azure services (App Services, Functions, Key Vault, etc.) AI tools (LLMs, RAG, Copilot, agent frameworks) Microsoft security stack (Defender, Sentinel, Intune, Purview) CI/CD, Git, Infrastructure-as-Code Qualifications Relevant degree (Computer Science, IT, Cyber Security) or equivalent experience Microsoft and/or security certifications (advantageous) Personal Attributes Builder mindset delivers working solutions Strong security instinct thinks like an attacker and defender Analytical and logical problem-solver Calm under pressure during incidents Clear communicator across technical and business audiences What We Offer 💰 Salary: ± R82,000 per month basic 📈 Bonus: Performance-based annual incentive 🏦 Retirement Fund: 6% employer contribution 💻 Tools: Laptop, data, and full access to required tooling ✈️ Travel: Occasional travel to branches (reimbursed) CTC of R100k p/m
