About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Instrument Mechanician to join our team at Kroondal, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our metallurgical processes. As an Instrument Mechanician, you will be responsible for developing and implementing control philosophy and automation systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement control philosophy and automation systems
- Implement control systems on PGM flotation plants’ control philosophy
- Perform maintenance and repairs on Rockwell RSLOGIX 5000 PLC, Micrologix 500, and FTView SCADA systems
- Configure and set up ControlNet, DeviceNet, and Industrial EtherNet networks
- Install and configure Soft Starters and Motor Protection devices
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations
Requirements
- Minimum N4 certificate
- Trade Certificate recognized qualification as an Instrument Mechanician
- Intimate knowledge of metallurgical processes
- Knowledge of PGM flotation plants’ control philosophy
- Computer literate (Word and Excel)
- Knowledge of Rockwell RSLOGIX 5000 PLC, Micrologix 500, and FTView SCADA
- Advantageous: knowledge of ControlNet, DeviceNet, and Industrial EtherNet setup and configuration
- Advantageous: knowledge of Soft Starters and Motor Protection devices setup and installation
Qualifications
- Formal education/certification in Instrument Mechanician or related field (if applicable)
