Job Title: Safari Field Guide
Location: Manyoni Private Game Reserve, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
Position Type: Live-in | 3 Weeks On / 1 Week Off

A well-established Big 5 safari lodge in the Manyoni Private Game Reserve is seeking a passionate, professional, and guest-focused Safari Field Guide to join its team. This role is ideal for an energetic guide who thrives in a hands-on bush environment and enjoys being part of a close-knit lodge team where guiding, hosting, and practical lodge upkeep all form part of daily life.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a renowned conservation area while delivering exceptional safari experiences to international guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct interpretive game drives and bush experiences for international guests
  • Provide an exceptional hosting experience, ensuring guest comfort and engagement
  • Share in-depth knowledge of fauna, flora, and the local ecosystem
  • Assist with bush clearing and general reserve upkeep
  • Participate in general lodge maintenance as part of the team
  • Ensure vehicle, equipment, and guiding standards are maintained at all times
  • Uphold the highest safety and conservation standards
  • Work closely with lodge management and staff to ensure seamless guest experiences

Minimum Requirements

  • FGASA Level 1 (minimum)
  • DEAT Registered
  • Valid First Aid Level 1 Certificate (minimum)
  • Valid Drivers License with PDP
  • Previous guiding experience in a Big 5 reserve environment
  • Good mechanical/maintenance aptitude preferred
  • Excellent communication and guest interaction skills
  • Passion for conservation and the bush lifestyle
  • Professional, well-presented, and team-oriented individual

Remuneration & Benefits

  • Salary: R9,000.00 – 10,000.00 per month (depending on experience)
  • Live-in accommodation provided
  • Meals provided while on duty
  • Groceries supplied for off-duty periods
  • Compulsory Provident Fund contribution
  • Gratuities / Tips
  • Work Cycle: 3 weeks on / 1 week off
  • Annual Leave: 18 days per year
