About the Role
Join our team as a Qualified Millwright Cementation in Westonaria, West Rand, Gauteng. We are seeking an experienced Millwright with cementation experience to focus on the installation, maintenance, and repair of heavy stationary machinery in mining, shaft sinking, and production plants.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation & Setup: Assembling, aligning, and installing industrial machinery such as conveyors, feed bins, crushers, and bucket elevators, often on-site at cementation or aggregate facilities.
- Preventative Maintenance (PM): Executing daily, weekly, and monthly PM tasks to minimize downtime, including lubrication, tensioning belts/chains, and conducting vibration/temperature checks.
- Repairs & Troubleshooting: Diagnosing, overhauling, and repairing broken components (bearings, seals, gearboxes, motors, pumps).
- Welding & Fabrication: Performing high-quality welding (MIG/STICK) and fabricating metal parts for repair or construction using tools such as lathes and grinders.
- Underground/Mining Operations: Working on specialized equipment such as face drills, conveyor operations, and mining engineering components while adhering to strict mine health and safety standards.
- Safety Adherence: Following MSHA/OSHA, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and company safety protocols.
Requirements
- Trade Certification: Qualified Red Seal Millwright or equivalent certification is mandatory.
- Experience: 10 years of experience in heavy manufacturing, mining, or aggregate facilities.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLC control systems.
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings, schematics, and P&ID diagrams.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift 50 lbs, work at heights, and operate in confined spaces.
Specific Skills for Cementation/Mining
- Heavy Rigging: Experience in rigging large, complex parts, such as crushing and screening components.
- Equipment Familiarity: Hands-on experience with cement/slurry pumps and mining drilling equipment.
- Technical Proficiency: Ability to work on hydraulic and pneumatic components.
- Adaptability: Experience working in dusty, high-vibration, and high-noise environments.
Working Conditions
Environment: Includes both surface plant work and underground mining conditions. Hours: Involves 12-hour shifts, rotation, on-call participation, and extended weekend hours during shutdowns. Shutdowns: Intense work periods to ensure 24/7 reliability.
