About the Role
We are seeking a friendly and reliable Sales Assistant to join our team at a bookshop in Claremont, Cape Town. As the first point of contact for customers, you will be responsible for providing expert recommendations and creating a welcoming environment for readers. If you have excellent communication skills, retail experience, and a passion for books, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales assistance and customer service duties for Bookshop
- Act as first point of contact and create a welcoming environment for customers
- Provide expert recommendations and help customers find their next great read
- Greet customers, offer personalized recommendations and handle inquiries
- Operate Point of Sale system, process payments, returns and special orders
- Merchandising, keep shelves tidy, restock books, themed book displays
- Receive new stock, unpack deliveries and update inventory records
Requirements
- Presentable, friendly and reliable
- Fully bilingual with good English communication skills
- Matric
- Recent retail sales, stock merchandising or similar RETAIL EXPERIENCE A MUST
- Computer literate and experienced in using Point of Sale system
- Stable employment record A MUST (no job hoppers, no unreasonable gaps etc.)
- Contactable employment references
- Residing within daily commuting distance from Claremont
