About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Financial Manager to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing account reconciliations, preparing trial balance reports, and overseeing completed financial controls. They will also support the group audit process, guide the RTR team, and contribute to driving improvements in end-to-end accounting and reporting processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing account reconciliations
  • Preparing trial balance reports to lead balance sheet reviews with Commercial finance leaders
  • Overseeing completed financial controls
  • Reviewing with Commercial Finance the completed revenue calculation
  • Uploading budgets into the finance systems
  • Reviewing and approving unbilled media accruals in agreement with the Commercial finance team
  • Supporting the group audit process, with both internal and external audit
  • Reviewing intercompany accounts ensuring no out of balance
  • Supporting in the preparation of statutory accounts
  • Guiding and managing RTR team to meet and exceed agreed business SLA targets

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Experience in a Financial Controller or equivalent role, preferably working in an IFRS environment
  • Possess knowledge of the Media or Digital sectors (advantageous)
  • Prior experience working in a Shared Service Centre environment
  • Desire to drive improvements in end-to-end process for accounting and reporting
  • Significant experience of working in standard ERP and Consolidation packages (NetSuite and Adaptive Insight)
  • Fluent English language skills (other languages advantageous)
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience in Microsoft Office

Key Responsibilities Financial Strategy & Commercial Analysis: Lead and review all key financial reporting, budgets, and forecasts. Provide strategic insights, risk evaluation, and commercial guidance to senior management. Statutory Oversight & Audit Management: Manage the full annual audit process and act as the final reviewer and signatory for all statutory submissions (VAT, Income Tax, Provisional Tax) prepared by the Finance Lead. Cash Flow & Treasury Management: Oversee cash flow, capital planning, treasury functions, and banking relationships to ensure financial stability and optimal liquidity. Compliance & Legal Governance: Oversee the compliance and legal framework in collaboration with the Compliance Coordinator. Ensure all contracts, commercial leases, and corporate documentation are accurate, compliant, and commercially sound. Revenue & Commercial Strategy: Provide high-level oversight across all revenue-generating activities, including co-working, events, properties, and new revenue streams. Support pricing, modelling, and yield optimisation. Commercial Property Performance: Manage and analyse the property portfolio’s financial performance, including rental yields, lease profitability, tenant billing, and deposit management. Policy & Risk Management: Develop, update, and maintain all financial, HR, and operational policies to ensure best practices and mitigate risk. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and support the Finance Lead, Revenue Coordinator, and Compliance Coordinator to create a collaborative, high-performance team culture. Operational Support: Step in during key periods to provide hands-on support with daily operations — including reconciliations, payment runs, and month-end responsibilities. What You’ll Bring Industry Experience (Essential): 5–7 years in a senior finance leadership role, ideally within Commercial Property, Asset Management, or Professional Services. (Manufacturing, Logistics, or Agriculture backgrounds will not be suitable.) Commercial Acumen: Proven experience in strategic decision-making, pricing models, revenue optimisation, and profitability analysis. Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of South African finance, HR, tax, and compliance regulations. Solid understanding of accounting principles and systems (QuickBooks essential). Property finance and lease structuring experience are critical. Qualifications: A relevant finance degree is required. CA(SA) or CIMA highly advantageous. This is not a stepping-stone role. This is a leadership seat for a CA(SA) who understands manufacturing and knows how to lead a finance team. (this line is to post on LI as an introduction) Were looking for a commercially sharp, operationally grounded CA(SA) with solid manufacturing experience and proven people-leadership capability. This role requires someone who can lead, develop and hold a team, while still being hands-on and close to the numbers. If you havent managed a team before, this wont be the right fit. This is a senior finance role that sits at the intersection of finance, operations and leadership. Youll be responsible not only for financial outcomes, but for building and leading a high-performing finance team in a manufacturing environment where accuracy, pace and accountability matter. Key responsibilities: Full financial ownership across a manufacturing operation Leading, mentoring and developing a finance team Driving budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis Managing costings, stock, WIP and margin performance Producing management reporting that supports operational decisions Partnering closely with operations and senior leadership Embedding strong controls, discipline and accountability What were looking for (non-negotiables): CA(SA) qualification Strong manufacturing background (essential) Proven management and team-leadership experience Deep understanding of costings, stock and production finance Commercially minded with the confidence to challenge and influence Structured, decisive and comfortable taking ownership This role will suit you if You enjoy leading people, not just processes Youre comfortable being accountable for both numbers and a team You like being close to operations and decision-making Youre ready for a role with real responsibility and visibility This role will not suit you if Youre an individual contributor only Youve never worked in manufacturing Youre looking for something low-impact or purely technical This is a high-impact leadership role for a CA(SA) who understands that manufacturing finance is complex, and that strong teams make the difference. Job Description

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospitality finance, excellent leadership skills, and a hands-on approach to ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all financial operations. Key Responsibilities Financial Operations & Controls Oversee all property finance functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with group SOPs. Review and approve purchase orders, ensuring correct allocation and adherence to budgets. Manage cash flow, including petty cash and credit card reconciliations. Validate daily revenue submissions and ensure timely, accurate reporting. Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register and operating equipment assets for both insurance and finance purposes. Oversee inventory management, including variance recounts, workbook validation, and final sign-off on control systems. Budgeting, Reporting & Analysis Drive and own the annual budget process at property level, collaborating with department heads. Prepare and analyze management accounts, providing variance analysis and actionable insights. Produce flash and project reports to support business decision-making. Support the pricing of extras and ancillary services at property level. Audit, Compliance & Internal Controls Ensure robust internal controls are in place and adhered to, in line with group standards. Assist with annual external audits and ensure all supporting documentation is accurate and available. Manage gate fees, coupons, and levies, ensuring proper allocation and reconciliation. Collaboration & Stakeholder Management Act as the key finance link between the property and the support office procurement team. Work closely with HR on gratuities, staff deductions, and payroll-related finance matters. Support operational teams with financial guidance and training as needed. Requirements Education: B.Com degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. Experience: Minimum 5 years experience in finance, with at least 2 years in the hospitality sector. Systems: Advanced proficiency in MS Office; experience with Sage Software (Intacct preferred). Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Personal Attributes: Proactive, collaborative, and able to communicate financial concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders. Excellent attention to detail. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), practicing honest communication. Team player with positive attitude, enthusiasm, and emotional control.
