About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network administration and architecture, with a solid understanding of TCP/IP and the network stack, including IPv6, IPv4, routing protocols, and Q-in-Q. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our client’s networks, providing exceptional support to IT Directors, staff, and users.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively monitor network performance and integrity
- Improve network performance, capacity, and scalability
- Final escalation tier for network engineers
- Configure and install software, servers, routers, and other network devices
- Design and deploy functional networks through Pre and After Sales Support
- Product research and development
- Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
- Maintain complete technical documentation
- Mentor team members on technical issues
- Liaise with various 3rd parties to ensure call resolution
- Liaise with project management and support teams
Requirements
- Matric qualification
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science or IT related field
- Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA
- Valid Driver’s License and own vehicle
- Professional OME certification
- 5 years of experience in network administration and architecture
- Solid background in network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools (NMS)
- In-depth understanding of TCP/IP and the network stack: IPv6, IPv4, routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF), Q-in-Q
