Durban: Retail Sales Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Retail Sales Manager to lead our retail store operations in Durban. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in retail management, with a proven track record of increasing sales and improving efficiency. With essential Syspro experience and industry knowledge in Industrial Hardware, Steel or Fluid Control industries, you will be responsible for driving business growth and delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate day-to-day retail store operations
  • Manage, motivate and lead a team to increase sales and improve efficiency
  • Conduct daily sales meetings and attend security and health & safety meetings
  • Open and close the retail store
  • Monitor sales performance and ensure daily targets are achieved
  • Manage stock levels and make key decisions regarding inventory control
  • Track inventory, place merchandise orders and inspect product displays
  • Sign off cash drawer reconciliations and receipts
  • Analyse sales figures, trends and forecast future sales
  • Use information systems to record sales data and support planning initiatives
  • Ensure promotions are executed accurately and in line with company standards
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and resolve customer complaints effectively
  • Recruit, train, manage and conduct performance reviews for staff
  • Handle staffing matters including scheduling and assigning duties
  • Ensure quality standards, health and safety regulations and security procedures are met
  • Promote the business through local marketing initiatives, special promotions, events and advertising
  • Monitor competitor activity and market trends
  • Identify and implement initiatives to improve business performance
  • Maintain strong communication with colleagues regarding performance, initiatives and operational matters

Requirements

  • 45 years of Retail Sales experience
  • 23 years of Retail Management experience
  • Syspro experience essential
  • Experience in Industrial Hardware, Steel or Fluid Control industries essential
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving ability
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, pressurised environment
  • Computer literate
