About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Workshop Manager to join our team in Johannesburg. As a key member of our operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of our workshop, while also contributing to the overall success of our business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain planned maintenance schedules for all vehicles and equipment
- Perform and oversee servicing and repairs on trucks, cars, tractors, and heavy-duty earth-moving machinery
- Ensure accurate completion and filing of service reports for each vehicle
- Source quotations from suppliers and prepare purchase orders for submission to the finance department
- Conduct inspections to support preventative maintenance initiatives
- Manage fuel requirements, including ordering petrol and diesel as needed
- Monitor fuel deliveries and verify fuel levels regularly
- Enforce compliance with occupational health and safety standards across the workshop
- Support the storeman in compiling lists of required materials and spare parts
- Oversee workshop administration, including annual vehicle licence renewals
- Supervise and manage workshop staff, ensuring productivity and performance standards are met
- Source and procure new and second-hand vehicles and equipment for the company
- Provide mechanical support and servicing to surrounding Bothongo Farms Service private vehicles as required by management
Requirements
- Qualified and skilled Mechanic with a minimum of 5 years experience
- Proven ability in fault finding and general repairs on trucks and light delivery vehicles (petrol and diesel)
- Experience in vehicle servicing, maintenance, and preventative maintenance programmes
- Ability to complete and maintain accurate job-related documentation (job cards, worksheets, service records)
- Sound knowledge of risk assessments and Occupational Health and Safety requirements
- Medically fit for the role
Qualifications
- Valid South African Code 10 (C1) drivers licence
- Trade Test certification (essential)
