Job Description

Our client, a well-established and highly regarded IT solutions company based in Port Elizabeth, is seeking to appoint an experienced and driven IT Field Engineer to join their dynamic technical team.

Requirements:

  • Relevant IT Degree or Diploma
  • Industry certifications essential:
    • A+
    • N+
    • MCSE
  • Minimum 35 years proven field support experience within an IT environment
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or project management experience
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Server support
    • Office 365
    • Exchange mail
    • Routing
    • Wireless networking
    • IT infrastructure support
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid drivers licence
  • Own reliable transport
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure

Responsibilities:

Technical Support and Infrastructure

  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, servers, networking devices, and peripherals
  • Provide onsite and remote technical support to clients and users
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues
  • Perform routine maintenance on servers, networks, and infrastructure environments
  • Manage Office 365, Exchange mail systems, routing, wireless infrastructure, and network security solutions

Server and Network Support

  • Support Microsoft server environments and cloud platforms
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues
  • Maintain system configurations, user accounts, passwords, and permissions
  • Conduct fault-finding and recommend preventative measures

Project Coordination

  • Assist with project planning and implementation
  • Coordinate software installations and deployments
  • Ensure projects are delivered according to agreed timelines and standards

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead and manage technical support staff and field engineers
  • Ensure high service delivery standards and operational efficiency
  • Mentor and support junior technical staff where required

Documentation and Client Service

  • Maintain technical documentation, service reports, and client records
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Deliver professional and efficient customer support
