About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Executive Chef to join our team at a world-renowned luxury safari lodge operator in Tanzania. As the lead chef, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional culinary experiences that reflect the lodge’s culinary identity and produce available. You will design and implement seasonal menus, ensure high-quality plating and presentation, and provide excellent guest service.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement seasonal menus that adhere to established brand styling guidelines
- Greet arrivals, learn names, and invite feedback from guests
- Liaise with groups food specialists to exchange ideas and raise the standard of the culinary offering
- Lead a diverse kitchen team, motivating and inspiring staff to deliver exceptional results
- Manage day-to-day and longer-term kitchen operations, including administrative duties, scheduling, and hygiene compliance
- Develop creative approaches to seasonal, produce-driven menu development
- Provide excellent interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, heads of department, the lodge manager, and external suppliers
Requirements
- Formal culinary qualification from a recognised institution
- Minimum two years kitchen management experience, preferably within a five-star or luxury lodge environment
- Proven ability to perform consistently under pressure while maintaining high attention to detail
- Strong guest-service orientation with a warm, approachable, and positive demeanour
- Demonstrated team leadership and staff development skills
