Job Description

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Grade 12
  2. Degree/Diploma in related field
  3. 5+ Years experience in Quality Control
  4. Professional Registration (FSSC, ISO, SAQI – preferable)
  5. Strong knowledge of quality control methodologies, processes, and procedures
  6. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

Duties and Responsibilities:

Quality Control

  • Ensure proper hygiene, sanitation, and food safety practices are followed during operation
  • Supervise all quality and technical activities on the floor
  • Interpret lab results and product testing
  • Ensure correct product identification, labeling, traceability
  • Promote a quality culture on the floor
  • Ensure non-conforming products are identified and controlled
  • Verify quality through lab analysis and testing procedures
  • Physical presence on the production floor to be able to provide quality and technical assistance
  • Oversee day to day quality activities in production and lab
  • Oversee quality control activities for raw materials, in-process production, and finished product inspections
  • Monitor production processes to maintain product consistency, quality and prevent contamination and defects

Compliance

  • Adherence to customer specification and legal requirements
  • Maintain accurate quality records, reports, and documentation for traceability and compliance
  • Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits

Quality Assurance and Food Safety

  • Maintain compliance with HACCP, ISO 22 000 and GMP
  • Collaborate with production, procurement, and management teams to improve product quality and efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and customer standards (e.g., FSSC 22 000, Specifications, local and international regulations). Therefor ensure all products consistently meet food safety, quality and regulatory standards

Technical Function

  • Understanding equipment operation and product reactions
  • Strong knowledge of food microbiology, packaging integrity and set-up, shelf-life, and product stability

Leadership and Reporting

  • Motivate, lead and support team.
  • Compile various reports and communicate non-conformances and quality matters clearly to management
  • Lead and train quality staff to maintain high performance and adherence to standards
  • Decision making and in time action to prevent deviations

Problem-solving and Improvement

  • Identify and drive process, waste and efficiency improvements
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions
  • Identify, communicate and investigate Quality deviations, customer complaints and food safety incidents timeously
