Pretoria: Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Pretoria. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating professional electrical designs that meet client-specific requirements while aligning with our business strategy, industry best practices, safety regulations, and cost management objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate professional electrical designs
  • Align designs with business strategy, industry best practices, safety regulations, and cost management objectives
  • Prepare scope of work, specifications, bill of quantities, and tender documents
  • Compile detailed data packs to support manufacturing and software engineering phases of projects
  • Design MCC systems in accordance with IEC61439 including heat rise calculations, equipment selection, and layout design
  • Design lighting and small power systems, substation designs, cable racking designs, and cable sizing
  • Design transformer sizes and equipment selections
  • Liaise directly with clients on design specifications and requirements
  • Ensure continuous design improvements for optimal and cost-effective implementation
  • Mentor and coach CAD operators and engineers in training

Requirements

  • Degree, Technical Diploma, or NQF equivalent in Electrical Engineering
  • Extensive operational and design experience including relevant design software
  • Solid knowledge of international electrical and instrumentation specifications and standards (SANS)
  • Knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems
  • Industrial plant design experience
  • Mining industry design experience is essential

Qualifications

Pr Eng registration is advantageous but not required.
