About the Role
SKILLS CONNECTOR is seeking a highly skilled Supervisor – Bookkeeping & Client Accounting to join our team in the Western Cape region. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for overseeing the bookkeeping function and ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial statements. If you have excellent leadership skills, strong accounting knowledge, and experience working with clients, we encourage you to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support a team of bookkeepers, including performance management and workflow planning
- Manage the full bookkeeping function up to trial balance, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Prepare and review monthly trial balances, income statements, and balance sheets
- Perform monthly reconciliations (bank, petty cash, debtors, creditors) and process journals (including depreciation and provisions)
- Prepare and distribute monthly management accounts within agreed deadlines
- Identify discrepancies, investigate variances, and report unusual items
- Handle VAT calculations, submissions, and client approvals via eFiling
- Process payroll and ensure compliance with statutory requirements (EMP201, etc.)
- Liaise with clients, resolve queries, and maintain strong professional relationships
- Ensure deadlines, budgets, and internal controls/checklists are consistently met
- Assist with basic tax returns and ad hoc accounting work
Requirements
- Matric (compulsory)
- Degree/diploma/certificate in accounting
- Experience in income tax, financial statements, auditing
- Valid Driver’s Licence and have own transport advantageous – (travel will be reimbursed at standard rates)
