About the Role
Datafin, a provider of tailored Financial Solutions, is seeking a Junior Mid Graphic Designer to join its in-house Marketing Department. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for creating eye-catching visual designs with clear, enticing copy for both digital and print platforms. Your talent for creating visually appealing designs will be essential in ensuring all assets are on-brand and look the part.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop creative designs with clear, enticing copy for both digital and print platforms, including but not limited to:
- Social media graphics, infographics, and paid ad creatives
- Marketing collateral (brochures, posters, flyers, banners, signage, OOH)
- Website visuals, landing pages, and email templates
- Presentations, proposals, and reports
- Internal communications and staff engagement materials
- Support the Marketing team in executing integrated campaigns with visually impactful design elements.
- Ensure all creative assets are aligned with the company’s corporate identity, tone, and brand guidelines.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Management teams on Branding CI design, maintenance, and enhancements.
- Assist in the conceptualisation and execution of new branding projects and campaigns.
- Prepare design files for production and liaise with printers, suppliers, and other external partners where necessary to ensure deadlines are met and material is produced to the highest quality.
- Keep up to date with design trends, tools, and best practices to bring fresh and innovative ideas to the team.
- Collaborate closely with the Marketing team, Project Management team, Copywriters, and Senior Designers to deliver work on time and to specification.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Implement an effective and optimized graphic design process.
- Work with the Marketing Manager to source high-quality content for print and online publications.
- Review final layouts with management and suggest improvements if required.
- Participate and contribute to marketing-related brainstorming sessions.
- Assist the design and digital teams with other day-to-day tasks.
- Compile weekly and monthly activity reports.
Requirements
- Qualifications: Degree or Diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field.
Experience/Skills
- 2-5 years work experience in a Design role (Agency experience a plus)
- Proficient with Apple Mac (macOS).
- Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, incl. Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign (essential).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office for macOS.
- Knowledge of photo-editing, pre-press, and print production processes.
- Exceptional grammar and spelling, incl. proofreading (English).
- Thorough understanding of corporate identity and branding concepts.
- Strong attention to detail, layout, composition, and typography.
- Creative thinker with the ability to translate briefs into compelling visuals.
- Familiarity and detailed understanding of different demographic markets in South Africa.
- A strong portfolio showcasing creative design work across print and digital mediums.
Advantageous
- Adobe After Effects, Canva, Figma and animation/video editing skills.
- Experience with Financial Services products and/or Political organisations.
- Understanding of Digital Marketing design principles (social media creative formats, responsive design, UX/UI basics, basic HTML/CSS).
