About the Role
Africonology is seeking a Senior Engineer – Sterling B2B Integrator Specialist to join our team on a 12-month contract basis in Johannesburg, South Africa. As the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) in your technical domain, you will provide solutions and advice to business across multiple complex problem sets, work with vendors to improve IT technical domain solutions, and support junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as technical lead Examples: Lead B2B (IBM Sterling Integrator) primarily for developing and deploying business process and Web services.
- Work with internal and external business teams to define, design, code, test, implement and maintain all aspects of electronic documents to suit business needs, particularly new business opportunities or new documents that partners request.
- Experience with large migration, integration and consolidation efforts of file transfer platforms.
- Demonstrated experience working as a subject matter expert for the B2Bi, Connect Direct and MQFTE platforms.
- Proficient in utilizing various operating systems and the installation of B2Bi, Connect Direct and MQFTE agent software on Windows, Linux, AIX, mainframe and Solaris.
- Build or maintain business processes within IBM Sterling B2B Integrator.
- Provide setup and support for communication of files using standard internet protocols (FTP, SFTP and HTTP(s)).
- Unix and Windows scripting capabilities a must.
- Provide on call support for all the above as required to support needs of business.
- Coordinate with enterprise design, applications, and infrastructure architects regarding automation, file transfer, and batch scheduling technologies
- Provide ongoing oversight and continuous process improvement of ongoing system inspection procedures.
- Incident troubleshooting/analysis oversight
- Conduct ongoing oversight and quality review of incident resolution — identify those areas where a pre-defined response is appropriate.
- Develop and document standardized troubleshooting techniques used to analyze system incidents.
- Enforce standards with respect to automation, file transfer, and batch scheduling technologies
- Interface independently with internal and external business partners to plan, coordinate, test and implement new automation and/or file transfer operations.
- Work with production support teams to define and document workarounds to known errors.
- Conduct ongoing oversight and quality review of the execution of system functionality verification procedures.

Qualifications
Requires a BS Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
