Job Description
- Capture accounting transactions
- Prepare reconciliations of accounts in the ledger
- Maintain a filing system in respect of accounting data, records, contracts and invoices
- Reconciling purchase orders to goods received and invoices
- Confirm the validity of tax invoices and credit notes, and ensuring that they have been duly approved
- Capture of creditors invoices
- Assign budgetary expenditure to appropriate GL accounts and cost centres
- Follow up on monthly vendor statements
- Prepare reconciliation between creditors statements and the creditors ledger
- Communicate and resolve all reconciling differences identified and supplier invoice discrepancies or issues
- Preparation of vendor payments, and ensure vendors are paid within the agreed terms
- Forward remittance advices to suppliers after completion of payment run
- Allocate vendor payment and maintained cleared vendor accounts
- Creating of new vendor accounts and validating vendor information
- Upkeep of vendor master files on SAP, including account terms and banking details
- Act as a first line contact for vendors queries and payments
- Adhere to and ensure compliance with all financial policies and procedures
- Keep Finance Manager informed of potential accounting problems
- Provide monthly creditors age analysis for review
- Provide periodic reports and reconciliations supporting schedules as directed from time to time
- Assistance with all supporting documentation and samples required for external (interim and final) and internal audit
Qualifications required:
Certificate/Diploma in bookkeeping or equivalent
Previous working experience on SAP would be advantageous
At least 3-5 years’ experience in accounts payable
Functional skills:
- Basic understanding of booking principles
- Solid understanding of accounting payables principles
- Good computer literacy in Microsoft applications (especially excel) and SAP
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good telephone etiquette
- Ability to perform mathematical computations accurately and quickly
