About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our prestigious private game reserve located in the renowned Sabi Sands. As a key member of our culinary team, you will support the Executive Chef in leading daily kitchen operations and delivering exceptional cuisine in a luxury safari environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Executive Chef with daily kitchen operations and overall team management
- Maintain consistently high culinary standards in food preparation and presentation
- Lead, train, and motivate junior kitchen staff to ensure strong team performance
- Uphold strict hygiene, health, and food safety standards at all times
- Participate in menu development, seasonal planning, and ingredient sourcing
- Manage stock levels, orders, and kitchen inventory control
- Oversee smooth and efficient service across all meal periods
- Step into the Executive Chef role when required and assist with kitchen administration
Requirements
- Formal culinary qualification from a recognised institution
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a fine dining environment, with at least 2 years in a senior role
- Strong leadership and team coordination abilities
- Creative flair with excellent attention to detail and presentation
- Solid knowledge of food safety, kitchen operations, and modern cooking techniques
- Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Qualifications
- Formal culinary qualification from a recognised institution (required)
