About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. As a key member of our finance function, you will be responsible for leading the preparation of monthly group management reporting and ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and insightful variance analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead preparation of monthly group management reporting across business development spend and operating asset capex
  • Own month-end close processes for relevant cost centres, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and insightful variance analysis
  • Partner with project and operational teams to strengthen forecasting, budgeting, and financial discipline
  • Act as the finance lead for project reporting within the ERP system, driving continuous improvement in controls and data quality
  • Oversee capex tracking and reporting, ensuring alignment between approved budgets, spend, and cash flow forecasts
  • Support annual operating planning cycles, providing challenge, insight, and performance analysis
  • Collaborate with planning and treasury teams to ensure accurate cash impact forecasting
  • Contribute to year-end financial reporting, including technical accounting input and audit support
  • Build and enhance reporting tools (Excel / Power BI) to improve visibility and decision-making
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, transparency, and scalability

Requirements

  • Completed SAICA articles
  • Minimum 5 years experience in an accounting role with multinational experience
  • Experience in a capital-intensive business
  • Exposure to dealing with stakeholders across borders

Qualifications

CA(SA) / AGA(SA) / CIMA or relevant chartered accountant qualification

About the Role

Our client, a specialist data and analytics consultancy with over 15 years’ experience in the insurance and financial services industry, is seeking a numerically strong and technically sound Senior Accountant to join their dynamic team of finance professionals. The ideal candidate is a highly organised problem-solver with excellent time-management skills and a strong emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage cashbook, debtors, and creditors: Cashbook management (receipts, payments, bank reconciliations)
  • Debtors ledger: invoice generation, payment allocation, overdue follow-up
  • Creditors ledger: invoice capture, payment runs, supplier reconciliations
  • Petty cash and expense reimbursements
  • Process invoicing for: Software service engagements (retainer milestones) License subscriptions (recurring revenue) Hourly billing (time-tracking integration)
  • Execute bank reconciliations (daily for material accounts)
  • Monitor revenue recognition timing (deferred revenue for upfront payments)
  • Manage expense reimbursements and supplier payments
  • Month-End Close: Execute full close in Acumatica (ERP system), Prepare and post journals (accruals, prepayments, depreciation, FX), Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly (debtors, creditors, bank and intercompany)
  • Perform GL analysis and variance reviews
  • Produce management accounts package with basic commentary
  • Statutory Compliance (South Africa): Submit monthly VAT returns (reconciled to GL), PAYE/UIF reconciliations and submissions (coordinator with payroll provider)
  • Support annual financial statements preparation
  • Support with external audit (provide schedules, resolve queries)
  • Maintain statutory documentation and registers
  • Process cross-border intercompany invoices
  • Reconcile intercompany balances with offshore entities (North America & Europe)
  • Ensure consistent treatment of shared costs and recharges
  • Flat transfer pricing or cross-boarder payment issues to leadership
  • Execute payment authorisations workflows per delegation of authority
  • Document SOPs for all core processes
  • Identify and escalate process gaps or control weaknesses

Requirements

  • BCom Accounting / Finance (or equivalent)
  • 57 years general ledger experience (services/software/consulting environment and Businesses with project-based or retainer revenue models preferred)
  • Strong Acumatica proficiency (or similar to cloud ERP)
  • SA tax knowledge (VAT, PAYE, CIT basics)
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, reporting)
  • Practical AI tool usage (OpenAI, Copilot, Claude, Gemini)
  • Practical understanding of accrual accounting and revenue recognition

About the Role

The Senior Accountant role is a critical position that requires a high level of expertise in financial management, compliance, and leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full accounting function for a group of companies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full accounting function for a group of companies, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports
  • Oversee reconciliations of bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and intercompany balances
  • Review and approve supplier reconciliations and ensure timely payment to all vendors
  • Monitor cash flow, prepare drawdown requests, and report on liquidity to internal stakeholders
  • Assist with budgeting and financial forecasting processes for the group
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes in line with accounting standards and internal timelines
  • Prepare audit schedules, reports, and supporting documentation for internal and external auditors
  • Supervise, support, and develop junior accounting staff, providing guidance where needed
  • Maintain fixed asset registers, oversee depreciation calculations, and support financial control improvements and automation initiatives

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of relevant accounting experience in a full-function role
  • Proven experience in preparing financial reports, reconciliations, and managing month-end/year-end processes
  • Exposure to group reporting and multi-currency accounting
  • Experience working within the manufacturing, FMCG, or retail environment is beneficial
  • Strong background in financial compliance, audits, tax processes, and internal controls

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate monthly management accounts for multiple entities (balance sheet, income statement & schedules)
  • Analyse Budget vs Actual variances and communicate findings
