About the Role
A well-established business based in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town is urgently seeking a hands-on Statutory Reporting Accountant to join their finance team on a temporary contract due to increased team capacity demands and upcoming audit deadlines. The ideal candidate will be able to hit the ground running, work independently with minimal onboarding, and take ownership of statutory reporting, compliance, and audit deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Full ownership of the Trial Balance and General Ledger integrity
- Ensure monthly reconciliations, supporting schedules, and balance sheet accuracy
- Prepare Annual Financial Statements (AFS) in line with IFRS
- Manage the external audit process and resolve audit queries efficiently
- Prepare and review tax schedules, tax computations, and submissions
- Oversee VAT returns and ensure local/international compliance
- Reconcile and maintain intercompany transactions and balances
- Ensure strong financial governance, controls, and regulatory compliance
- Manage period-end journals and financial adjustments
Requirements
- Completed articles / audit-trained preferred
- 35 years experience in financial accounting / statutory reporting
- Strong commercial industry experience post articles
- Strong experience with: Financial statement preparation, Tax & VAT compliance, Audit management
- Experience in manufacturing ERP experience
Qualifications
- Formal education/certifications (Bachelor’s, LLB, Matric, etc.) not specified
Salary & Benefits
- R650,000 – R850,000 per annum (depending on experience)
- Contract through to end December 2026
