About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Accountant to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing creditors, processing supplier invoices, and maintaining accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full creditors function with accuracy and efficiency
  • Process supplier invoices and payments in line with company policies
  • Maintain and update the creditors Masterfile on Sage Evolution
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes
  • Prepare and process supplier reconciliations, resolving discrepancies timeously
  • Maintain well-organised and compliant supplier records
  • Liaise with suppliers on queries, statements, and outstanding payments
  • Load supplier payments on the banking platforms
  • Process and reconcile creditor payments with correct allocations
  • Assist with general ledger reconciliations and journal entries
  • Prepare and assist with financial reports when required
  • Maintain financial records in line with internal controls and regulatory compliance
  • Perform general office administration duties including stationery orders, courier arrangements and other tasks

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience within an accounting role
  • Manufacturing experience would be highly advantageous

Qualifications

  • Completed tertiary qualification in finance or accounting
  • Completed Matric

About the Role

The Accountant role in our Cape Town City Centre office is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team. As an Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, while also providing administrative support to the accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow up on leads and customer enquiries
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and general ledger entries
  • Record daily financial transactions, including invoices, payments, and receipts
  • Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and schedules
  • Maintain proper documentation and organised financial records
  • Assist during internal and external audits by providing required documents
  • Update financial data
  • Reconcile staff claims and employee expense reports
  • Set up and process payment requests in accordance with approval workflows
  • Create and manage purchase orders
  • Conduct supplier vetting
  • Identify discrepancies and report issues to senior accounting staff
  • Follow company accounting policies and procedures
  • Check and process timesheets and external customer expenses for invoicing
  • Track and verify external customer expenses
  • Handle cash requirements, including managing the cashbook, credit card transactions, and depreciation entries
  • Provide administrative support, including managing leave records and assisting with on-boarding and off-boarding processes

Requirements

  • Matric certificate
  • 3 years experience in accounting or finance related field
  • Fully bilingual in English and Afrikaans
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience with accounting software (Pastel)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet necessary deadlines
  • Drivers license
  • Ability to work independently and within a team

Key Responsibilities

  • Document financial transactions by entering and verifying account information.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports.
  • Perform monthly cash flow forecasting and control.
  • Prepare annual financial statements.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Capture and reconcile debtors and creditors accounts.
  • Perform bank reconciliations.
